Overview

Position Description

The Regional Latino Network Builder is responsible for supporting the initiative to assist in developing the capacity for leadership, outreach, and advocacy with and for Latino and Immigrant communities within King County. This position collaborates and builds commitment within CCS/CHS, the local Latino community, Church leadership including pastors and parish leaders, and other leaders in social service, education, health care, and government.

Responsibilities

  • Creates collaborative networks of Latino and Immigrant communities, pastoral leaders (such as priest pastors, deacons, lay leaders, and parish outreach ministers), leaders in social service, education, healthcare, and government committed to outreach, community development, and advocacy.
  • Assists in identifying specific areas of need and in developing concrete and sustainable responses to address needs for the local Latino and Immigrant communities. These responses can include projects and programs in service and outreach, specific actions or movements for advocacy.
  • Builds and maintains relationship with appropriate CCS/CHS programs and staff for support, communication, and collaboration.
  • Builds relationship with local Latino communities within the region. Particularly maintains knowledge of existing local strengths, interests, resources, and local projects with and for local Latino communities.
  • Connects and supports local Catholic community connection to CCS/CHS programs, especially those serving the Latino and Immigrant populations.
    • Local Catholic partners include local Deans, pastoral leaders (such as priest pastors, deacons, lay leaders, and parish outreach ministers), Chancery leaders in Latino and Immigration ministries, Catholic healthcare partners, St. Vincent de Paul, and more.
  • Assures the availability of information and referral services by the parishes for Latino social outreach concerns. Establishes and maintains relationships with appropriate referral services.
  • Collaborate, design, manage, and implement projects with local Latino communities in partnership with CCS/CHS programs and local partners such as deaneries and parishes.
  • Accepts referrals and provides outreach to the local communities, schools, churches and other entities as identified for connecting them to appropriate services and programs available at CCS/CHS.
  • Maintains familiarity and develop relationships with community resources and aids in referral to non-CCS programs as needed.
  • Accompanies clients through referrals and as they progress through services as appropriate and ensures up-to-date and accurate documentation.
  • As needed, in all responsibilities, comply with related policies and procedures including client confidentiality; case notes; data collection; budgets; supply ordering; reports; etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual - verbally and written in English/Spanish.
  • Experience with local Hispanic community.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working directly with Latino/Immigrant communities.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and effective human services skills including demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of families and individual in need of service; cultural competency; client motivation; and tracking of client services required.
  • Effective program building and community organizing skills and experience.
  • Excellent written, oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products ( Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint).
  • Dependable transportation as it is possible that the Regional Latino Network Builder will work at many locations in a given week.
  • Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
  • Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of human and Latino services in King County.
  • Active participation and experience as staff in a Catholic parish or Catholic social service organization in the outreach or advocacy field, preferably with project development.
